VACCINATIONS

Does my cat need to be vaccinated?
Yes. If your cat has not been vaccinated against feline infectious enteritis and cat flu we cannot accept it. We also strongly recommend that your cat is vaccinated against cat leukaemia. Although this is not a condition of entry your cat may not be covered by our insurance during it's stay without this protection.

Is the annual booster necessary?
Yes. Your cat should normally receive it's booster no more than a few weeks either side of the due date.

Can I have my cat vaccinated before it comes in to the Cattery?
Yes - but bear in mind that if your cat has never been vaccinated or has missed a booster, it will need to start from scratch. It will need two vaccinations, given several weeks apart, and then a period of a week or two before the vaccine has taken effect. Ideally the first vaccination needs to be given at least four weeks before the cat is due to board. If an annual booster is due at time of boarding it should be given a week or so before arrival or left until afterwards.

What if I can't find the vaccination certificate?
All you have to do is ask your vet for a replacement. The vet will have a record of vaccinations given.

FOOD

Can my cat eat what it has at home?
Yes. As far as possible a continuous stable diet is maintained. However, cats are fickle and sometimes change their eating habits while they are with us. Rest assured we have plenty of nourishing alternatives. There is always a plentiful stock of the most popular brand foods.

What if my cat eats an expensive or special diet food?
No problem. We can either supply the food but may charge a little extra or you can supply the food and we'll charge a little less.

Do the cats ever get Tuna or fresh chicken?
Yes. If you would like your cat to have Tuna just say so. It is actually no more expensive than standard tinned foods. We always give the cats some turkey at Christmas and chicken when there is some left over.

MEDICAL PROBLEMS

What if my cat has a medical problem?
As long as it is not a danger to the other boarders and that your vet has given the go-ahead there shouldn't be a problem. Your cat may, however, not be insurable during its stay.

What if my cat is on medication?
If necessary (and approved by the vet) medecines and injections can be administered on site and, if required, a boarder can be taken to the vet for medication.

FAVOURITE TOYS AND BLANKETS

Can my cat bring any favourite toys or blankets?
Yes - within reason. Although we provide bedding, toys and a scratchpost, many boarders like to bring their own. A little something from home is comforting.

METHODS OF PAYMENT

What methods of payment do we accept?
We accept cash and cheque payments. We are unable to accept payment by Debit or Credit card.

HOURS OF BUSINESS

Can I visit the Cattery outside business hours?
We are happy to receive visitors outside hours by appointment but bear in mind that my work involves shopping, collecting and returning cats home and other personal activities which take me away from the cattery. So please telephone first to avoid a wasted journey.

Can I telephone the Cattery outside business hours?
Yes. By all means. We would prefer, though, that you didn't call before 8.30 a.m. or after 8.00 p.m. except in an emergency.

ARRIVALS & DEPARTURES

Do we collect & deliver boarders?
Yes - but only in exceptional circumstances, otherwise I would have no time to look after the other cats.

What if I want to pick my cat up early?
That is generally not a problem but you must telephone first to find out if it is convenient.

What if I am delayed and will be late picking my cat up?
We understand this problem (ferry and plane delays, motorway problems etc.). Don't worry - do your best to telephone us to let us know when you might be back. If you are very late you may have to leave the pick-up to the following day.

DO's & DON'Ts

What should I be aware of or try to remember when boarding my cat?
There are several things you should remember...

Firstly, try to keep your cat in prior to dropping off or it might disappear at a crucial moment!

Secondly, avoid feeding before dropping off. Your pet will, most likely, travel better.

Thirdly, remember to bring the vaccination certificate.

Finally, remember that you must have notified us of any medical condition and to bring any medication your cat will need.
